Color, confidence, and the art of dressing well.
Finding Your Best Colors
The right color doesn’t just look good — it makes you look good. Here’s how our four signature colors work across different skin tones:
Black
Works for everyone. Black is universally flattering and endlessly versatile. It sharpens your silhouette and pairs with anything. When in doubt, start here.
Midnight
Best for: cool and neutral undertones. This deep navy-black is softer than pure black and beautifully complements fair, olive, and deep skin tones. The quiet alternative that still means business.
Aubergine
Best for: warm and deep undertones. This rich plum brings warmth to deeper complexions and adds unexpected sophistication to lighter skin tones. A statement that still feels professional.
Old Gold
Best for: warm and olive undertones. This muted golden olive is striking on medium to deep skin tones and adds earthy richness. Bold but grounded.
Color Pairing Guide
Not sure what goes with what? Here are our tried-and-true combinations:
Black + White
The original contrast. Black grounds, white lifts — together they’re sharp, confident, and endlessly wearable. A black blazer over a white shirt has never been wrong and never will be.
Aubergine + Old Gold
Complementary colors that were made for each other. Deep plum and burnished gold sit opposite on the color wheel, creating a natural tension that feels rich and luxurious — bold without being loud. This pairing turns heads in the best possible way.
Art Deco + Sangria
Complementary colors with serious depth. Deep teal and Sangria sit opposite on the color wheel — the cool of Art Deco makes Sangria glow, and Sangria brings warmth that teal alone never could. Wear Art Deco as your anchor and let Sangria do the talking.
Black + Everything
Black is the great equalizer. It sharpens Aubergine, grounds Old Gold, softens Beige, deepens Midnight, anchors Art Deco, and quiets Sangria. When in doubt, start with black.
Monochrome
One color, head to toe — done right. Tonal dressing creates a long, unbroken line that is inherently elegant — and that unbroken line makes the wearer look taller and leaner. Mix textures within the same color for depth: a Wool Blend Twill blazer over Knit Ponte pants in the same shade feels intentional, not accidental.
Know Your Fabrics
Choosing the right fabric is just as important as choosing the right color. Here’s what to expect:
Wool Blend Twill
Structured, polished, and ideal for formal settings. It holds its shape beautifully and has a refined drape. Best for blazers, tailored pants, and pencil skirts when you want a crisp, put-together look. This is your go-to for meetings, presentations, and any occasion where you want to make an impression.
Washable Silk Crepe de Chine
Innovative materials are in our DNA. That’s why we’re pioneering Washable Silk Crepe de Chine — a luxurious fabric you can care for at home, no dry cleaning required.
Knit Ponte
Comfortable, stretchy, and smooth. It moves with you and feels like a second skin. Perfect for days when you want to look professional but feel relaxed. It’s also a dream for travel — it doesn’t wrinkle, packs flat, and looks polished after hours in transit. If you’re ordering your first MaisonFit piece, start here — the stretch is forgiving and makes getting the fit right easier on the first try.
Fit Tips from Our Designer
- A blazer should button comfortably without pulling. If the fabric strains, it’s too tight. If it gaps, it’s too loose. That’s exactly why made-to-measure exists.
- Pants should sit at your natural waist without a belt. If you need a belt to keep them up, the waist measurement needs adjusting.
- A skirt hem just below the knee is the most universally flattering length for professional wear.
- If you’re petite, our made-to-measure sizing means you’ll never need to hem pants again. Just give us your inseam and we’ll handle the rest.
- If your body has changed over the years — and whose hasn’t — don’t fight it. Give us your current measurements and let us build something that fits the woman you are today.
